The W70B is Yealink's entry-level DECT base station. A PoE-powered base that supports up to 8 SIP accounts and pairs with Yealink DECT handsets (W53H, W56H). It is sold as a base station only: no handset is included. For businesses that want cordless VOIP at a lower entry price than the W76P bundle, or that need to add a DECT base to an existing handset deployment, the W70B is the starting point.

Base station only. No handset included. The W70B is the DECT base unit. You need at least one compatible Yealink handset (W53H or W56H) to make and receive calls. If you want a complete DECT system with base and handset bundled, see the Yealink W76P review instead.
Who is this phone for?
The W70B suits three specific use cases. First, businesses that already own compatible Yealink DECT handsets (W53H or W56H from a previous deployment) and need an additional base station. The W70B lets you expand coverage or add more registered handsets without replacing existing hardware.
Second, businesses shopping for the lowest entry price on a Yealink DECT base who intend to purchase handsets separately. The W70B base costs less than the W76P bundle. If W53H handsets are available cheaper through a different channel, buying base and handsets separately may produce a lower total cost.
Third, warehouse, hospitality, or retail environments that need multiple bases deployed across a site for extended DECT range (multi-cell roaming). Multiple W70B bases can be chained to cover a larger area with seamless handoff between cells.
Who should consider the W76P instead: the W76P bundle includes a W56H premium handset alongside the base, which has a larger screen and HD audio. For most office deployments where you are purchasing a complete DECT system, the W76P bundle is the cleaner option. See the W76P review for a full comparison.

Compatible handsets
The W70B works with the following Yealink DECT handsets:
W53H. Entry handset, 1.8" colour screen, standard call features. Lower cost per handset. Suitable for general staff positions.
W56H. Premium handset (included in the W76P bundle), 2.4" colour screen, HD audio (G.722), push-to-talk, louder speaker. Better audio and display at higher cost per handset.
Up to 8 handsets can be registered to a single W70B base. Multiple bases can be deployed in multi-cell mode for larger sites.
Call quality on Australian NBN
DECT operates on its own 1.9GHz radio band, separate from Wi-Fi. This makes DECT significantly more reliable than Wi-Fi phones in environments with dense wireless networks. Warehouses, hospitality venues, and offices with many Wi-Fi devices benefit from this separation. DECT does not compete with 2.4GHz or 5GHz traffic.
G.722 HD audio is supported on the W70B when paired with a W56H handset (the W53H uses standard codec only). On W56H, call quality is noticeably cleaner than traditional DECT systems.
Register the base to your SIP provider as a standard SIP device. Yealink RPS auto-provisioning handles the configuration if your provider supports it. Ensure SIP ALG is disabled on the router. DECT base stations are equally affected by SIP ALG as wired phones.
Features
The W70B provides the core DECT infrastructure for a Yealink cordless system:
8 SIP accounts. Register up to 8 separate SIP accounts on the base. Assign different accounts to different handsets or groups.
8 simultaneous calls. Supports multiple active calls at the same time across registered handsets.
PoE powered. The base is powered from an 802.3af Ethernet switch. No mains adapter needed at the base station, which simplifies mounting (can be wall-mounted near any Ethernet port).
Multi-cell deployment. Chain up to 30 W70B bases for large-site coverage with seamless handset roaming between cells. Used in warehouses, clinics, restaurants, and multi-floor offices.
G.722 HD audio. Supported with W56H handsets for clear call quality.
SRTP/TLS. Encrypted calls and signalling supported.
Yealink RPS auto-provisioning. Compatible with AU hosted PBX providers that support Yealink provisioning.
What works / What doesn't
Pros
PoE powered. Mounts cleanly near any Ethernet port without a power adapter
The W70B base station retails around $109 AUD from Australian ICT and communications retailers. Handsets are purchased separately. The W53H is the entry handset and the W56H is the premium option. Pricing updates nightly on this page from StaticICE AU data.
For a complete DECT bundle, compare the total cost of W70B + handsets against the W76P system price before ordering.
The W70B is the right choice when you need a DECT base for an existing handset fleet, are expanding an existing Yealink DECT installation, or are building a multi-cell site where you need multiple bases. As a starting point for a new single-system DECT deployment, compare the total price of W70B plus handsets against the W76P bundle. The bundle is often comparable in cost and includes a premium W56H handset.
For a single-office DECT system with one base and one to four handsets, the W76P bundle is the cleaner starting point. The W70B makes more sense for volume handset deployments, multi-cell sites, or additions to an existing DECT fleet.
Frequently asked questions
What handsets work with the Yealink W70B?
The W70B is compatible with the Yealink W53H (entry handset) and W56H (premium handset). Up to 8 handsets can be registered to a single base. The W56H is included in the W76P bundle; the W53H is available as a standalone handset.
What is the difference between the Yealink W70B and W76P?
The W76P is a complete bundle: W70B base plus one W56H premium handset. The W70B is the base station only. No handset included. If you need a complete DECT system, compare the total price of W70B plus handsets against the W76P bundle price. The W76P is typically the better value for a single-system purchase.
Can the Yealink W70B be used for multi-cell DECT coverage?
Yes. Multiple W70B bases can be deployed in multi-cell (chain) mode with up to 30 bases covering a large site. Handsets roam seamlessly between cells. This is used in warehouses, clinics, hospitality venues, and multi-floor office buildings.
Is the Yealink W70B compatible with Maxotel and other AU hosted PBX providers?
Yes. The W70B supports Yealink RPS auto-provisioning, compatible with AU hosted PBX providers including Maxotel. The base registers as a standard SIP device on your provider's platform.
Does the Yealink W70B require a power adapter?
No. The W70B is powered via PoE (802.3af) from any PoE-capable Ethernet switch. No mains adapter is needed at the base station, making wall-mounting near a patch panel straightforward. A power adapter is included as an alternative if PoE is not available.
