The T85W is the entry point into Yealink's new T8 series -- a 5.5-inch colour touch display, built-in dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 16 SIP lines, and the same core performance as the T5 series it sits alongside. For businesses that want a modern, wireless-capable IP phone without moving to the larger T87W form factor, the T85W is the current benchmark.

Who is this phone for?
The T85W is the right phone when you want built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on a mid-size touchscreen desk phone, without the larger footprint of the T87W. The 5.5-inch display is significantly larger than the T54W's 4.3-inch screen, making it easier to navigate contacts and call history while still fitting on a standard office desk.
Buy it for: executives and senior staff who want a premium wireless-capable desk phone, office environments where a cable run to the desk is impractical, and any deployment where Bluetooth headset support is a requirement without a USB dongle.
Compare against the T54W: the T54W is the established 4.3-inch wireless phone; the T85W offers a larger 5.5-inch display at a higher price. If the bigger screen matters for daily use, the T85W is worth the premium. If the screen size difference is not a deciding factor, the T54W remains a proven lower-cost option.
Compare against the T87W: the T87W has a 7-inch display at a higher price point. If desk space allows and the larger screen would be used, the T87W is the better long-term investment for an executive desk.

What's new about the T8 series?
The T8 series is Yealink's current-generation SIP desk phone line, launched to succeed the T5 series. The T85W and T87W represent Yealink's updated approach to high-end wireless desk phones, with larger displays and updated hardware compared to the T54W and T57W they complement.
The T8 series retains the same SIP-based protocol compatibility as all Yealink T-series phones -- it works with any standard SIP provider including all major Australian VOIP carriers. Provisioning, configuration, and management work through the same Yealink management platform and the same web-based interface familiar from other T-series phones.
For existing Yealink deployments, the T85W can be added or substituted without changes to the phone system configuration. It registers to the same Maxotel or other AU provider account as any other SIP phone.
Call quality on Australian NBN
When connected via the built-in 5GHz Wi-Fi on a well-configured network, the T85W delivers call quality indistinguishable from a cabled connection. The 5GHz band is preferred over 2.4GHz in congested office Wi-Fi environments -- it has more available channels and is less likely to be affected by interference from consumer devices, microwaves, and neighbouring office networks.
On 2.4GHz or in environments with high Wi-Fi contention, you may notice occasional jitter during calls. In any environment where call quality is critical, a cabled connection via the Gigabit port is always more reliable than Wi-Fi.
SIP ALG must be disabled on the router regardless of whether Wi-Fi or cable is used. Most AU routers have SIP ALG enabled by default, and it causes registration failures and one-way audio on all SIP phones including the T85W.
What works / What doesn't
Pros
5.5" colour touch display -- noticeably larger than the T54W's 4.3" screen
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth -- no dongles needed
16 SIP lines + 27 DSS keys -- full-featured for any AU SMB deployment
New T8 series hardware -- current generation with updated internals
Dual Gigabit ports -- fast cabled option still available
Cons
Priced between T54W and T87W -- screen size advantage over T54W may not justify cost for all deployments
Wi-Fi call quality is environment-dependent -- 5GHz preferred
Newer model -- less community deployment history than T54W/T57W
Larger desk footprint than T54W
Australian pricing and where to buy
The T85W is stocked by Digiphone and select AU IT retailers. Current Digiphone pricing is around $275 AUD. Prices on this page are updated nightly via StaticICE where available.
As a newer model in the Yealink lineup, availability may vary across AU retailers while stock levels stabilise. Digiphone is a reliable source for current stock and pricing. For multi-unit orders, contact your VOIP provider to check if they offer provisioned Yealink handsets as part of a bundle.
Deploying T85W handsets? Ask Maxotel about zero-touch provisioning for new Yealink T8 series phones.
The T85W fills the gap between the T54W (4.3-inch Wi-Fi phone) and the T87W (7-inch Wi-Fi phone). If the screen size is a meaningful factor in daily use and you want built-in wireless, the T85W is the right phone. If the screen size difference between T54W and T85W is not a daily factor, the T54W remains a proven lower-cost option.
For a desk where the phone will be used heavily all day and the operator wants a modern, large-screen wireless phone, the T85W is a solid current-generation choice.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Yealink T8 series?
The Yealink T8 series is Yealink's current-generation SIP desk phone lineup, succeeding the T5 series. It includes the T85W (5.5-inch display) and T87W (7-inch display). Both are built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and are fully compatible with standard SIP providers including all major Australian VOIP carriers.
T85W vs T54W -- which should I buy?
Buy the T85W if you want a larger 5.5-inch display and are happy to pay the premium over the T54W. The T54W has a 4.3-inch display and both phones have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If the screen size difference matters for your daily use (contacts, call history, navigation), the T85W is worth the upgrade. If not, the T54W is a well-proven phone at a lower price.
Does the Yealink T85W work on Australian NBN?
Yes. The T85W is fully compatible with Australian NBN connections and all major AU SIP VOIP providers. When using Wi-Fi, prefer the 5GHz band for best call quality. Disable SIP ALG on your router. Enable QoS to prioritise voice traffic, particularly on HFC or FTTN connections where jitter can be higher.
Can I connect a Bluetooth headset to the Yealink T85W?
Yes. The T85W has built-in Bluetooth. Compatible Bluetooth headsets pair directly with the phone without a USB dongle. Check the Yealink compatibility list for verified Bluetooth headset models.
