Grandstream GRP2636 Review — Australia 2026

The GRP2636 sits in the middle of Grandstream's GRP Professional series. 6 SIP accounts and 24 BLF keys on a 2.8" colour screen. More than the GRP2634 (4 SIP, 8 BLF) and less than the GRP2670 (12 SIP, 56 BLF). For team leads, supervisors, and operators who need to monitor a moderate number of extensions, it covers the gap between entry and full-operator configurations.

Who is this phone for?

The GRP2636 is built for users who need more BLF capacity and more SIP accounts than a standard staff phone provides, but do not need the full-operator specification of the GRP2670. Team leaders monitoring a team of up to 20 extensions, supervisors in a shared reception environment, or admin staff managing calls across multiple lines are natural fits. The 24 BLF keys span two pages of 12 keys each. This is enough to monitor a medium-sized team with one page of extension statuses visible at a time. For offices of 20-30 staff where the receptionist or team lead needs to see who is on a call without walking across the floor, the GRP2636 covers the requirement at a lower price than the GRP2670. Who should step down to the GRP2634: if only 4 SIP accounts are needed and 8 BLF keys is sufficient monitoring capacity, the GRP2634 is the lower-cost option. Suitable for individual staff positions rather than supervisory roles. Who should step up to the GRP2670: if the role requires monitoring 30+ extensions, the GRP2670 provides 56 BLF keys across four pages and 12 SIP accounts. The GRP2670 is the operator-grade option; the GRP2636 suits supervisory positions that don't need the full operator specification.

Build quality and design

The GRP2636 uses the standard GRP Professional chassis. A solid, professional-grade phone that matches the build quality expected at this price tier. The 2.8" 320×240 colour screen displays caller ID, BLF status, and call information clearly. The 24 BLF keys are physical hardware keys with LED indicators. Green for available, red for busy, flashing for ringing. Providing at-a-glance extension status without looking at the screen. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports are included for PC passthrough, which keeps desk cabling manageable on single-cable-drop desks. EHS headset support allows answering calls from a compatible wireless headset without touching the phone. No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The GRP2636 is a wired phone. If wireless connectivity is required, Grandstream does not have an equivalent wireless professional-tier phone in the GRP range; consider Yealink's T44W or T54W as the wireless alternative.

Call quality on Australian NBN

OPUS and G.722 HD audio are both supported, providing noticeably better call quality on well-configured NBN connections. The GRP Professional series is Grandstream's business-grade line. The audio processing and echo cancellation are built for extended call use in office environments. Wired Ethernet connection provides consistent call quality without the jitter variability of Wi-Fi. Disable SIP ALG on the router. The GRP2636 registers with any SIP provider via standard SIP credentials; Grandstream GDMS (Device Management System) supports mass provisioning for deployments of multiple units.

Features

The GRP2636 covers the mid-range supervisory and multi-line use case in the GRP Professional series:

  • 2.8" colour screen. Colour display for caller ID, BLF status grid, and call information. Same screen size as the GRP2602P and GRP2634 but with the wider feature set.
  • Gigabit PC passthrough. Dual Gigabit ports for single-cable-drop desks.
  • EHS headset support. Electronic hook switch for compatible Jabra and Poly wireless headsets.

Australian pricing and where to buy

The GRP2636 is available from Australian ICT and communications retailers. Pricing updates nightly on this page from StaticICE AU data. As a mid-range professional series model, availability in AU retail is more limited than the entry-tier GRP2602P. Check stock before ordering. For volume orders or if the GRP2636 is not available, the Yealink T43U or T46U covers similar BLF monitoring requirements in the Yealink range. Contact your SIP provider or Grandstream's AU distribution channel for commercial pricing.

Verdict

The GRP2636 is the right phone for supervisory desks that need more BLF capacity than a standard 8-key phone provides, but do not need the full 56-key operator configuration of the GRP2670. Twenty-four BLF keys on two pages covers a medium-sized team monitoring requirement cleanly. For deployments mixing Grandstream and Yealink hardware: the Yealink T43U is a Gigabit wired alternative with 21 DSS keys and 12 SIP accounts at a similar price tier. Both are solid options; the choice often comes down to which brand your provisioning system handles more conveniently.
